I've set out to watch every movie on IMDb's Top 250 list, hopefully within a year. As I go along, I also thought to write a small review of each movie.

The Plan

Recently I had the idea to try getting through every movie on IMDb's Top 250 movie list. For those of you that don't know what that is, check it out here. It is a list of the top-rated movies, voted on by members of IMDb. The list has a huge range of titles, covering all genres and eras of film. Some might not always agree what is on and off the list but you can't deny it has countless great films.

I was advised to make a blog about my trip through these movies and it seemed like a good idea, even if its just something to keep me going. My goal is to get through the entire list within a year, starting at #250 and working up to #1, but well see how that goes. I am a student, so there will be times where the progress will slow down, but I'm confident I can push through. As I go along I will try writing a very brief review of each movie. I am aware this is a dynamic list and I am prepared for that. I will essentially take a screenshot of 25 movies at a time on the list and watch those, then make sure nothing changed near the end of the set (so as not to miss or double up on a movie).

Well, here we go: 0 down, 250 (and more as the list changes) to go. First up, The Philadelphia Story.

EDIT: Haha, since I wrote this, the new #250 is Glory. Maybe a better start?

  1. Philly Story is depressing, but don't let it deter you.

  2. Why don't you post the top 250 now and stick to that list?
The top 250 is probably going to change in the course of the year.
